What stays on the device?
The app’s cleaning takes place on your iPhone. Clean Slate has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking. You choose a photo or video, run the clean and get a new result in Photos. You do not need to create an account or send a file to a web service to process it.
Local processing and iCloud are different
Your Photos library may use iCloud Photos under your own Apple settings. An original that is only stored in iCloud may need to download before an app can process it. A cleaned item saved to Photos may also sync through your library. Clean Slate’s no-upload behaviour does not switch off Apple’s library syncing.
Prepare files before working offline
If you need to clean media without a connection, first make sure the full originals are available on the device. Download the app and complete any purchase or restore beforehand. The cleaning itself runs locally, but App Store downloads and purchases need network access.
Make and share a clean result
Select a locally available photo or video in Clean Slate and use the cleaning action. Wait for the result to save to Photos, then choose the new copy when you are ready to send it. The app keeps your original in place and gives you a separate version for sharing.
Privacy still depends on what you share
On-device cleaning reduces the need to give another service the source file. It does not make the image anonymous or control what a recipient does with it. Check the visible content, choose the cleaned result and use sharing settings appropriate to the situation.
Before a trip or a period without reception
Install Clean Slate while you have a connection and make sure any purchase or restore you need has completed. Open the photos and videos you plan to work with so their originals are available locally. Leave room for new copies in your library. This preparation matters more than simply switching off mobile data: a thumbnail in Photos is not the same thing as having the full original ready to process.
What happens when you reconnect?
A clean saved to Photos becomes part of your library. If your Apple settings sync that library, the item may sync when a connection becomes available. That is separate from Clean Slate uploading a file for processing. Review your own Photos and iCloud settings if your aim is to keep a particular item on one device rather than in a synced library.
An example: preparing clips in a remote location
Suppose you filmed a short sequence during a trip and want to prepare it before returning to reception. With the original available on the device, choose it in Clean Slate and let the local export finish. Watch the saved copy while you are still reviewing the footage. When you reconnect, select that result for sharing, rather than returning to the untouched source out of habit.
Local processing is one part of the decision
Choosing a tool that does not upload your media avoids handing the source file to a separate processing service. You still control what you send afterwards and which platform receives it. Check the visible and audible content, the selected file and the recipient before sharing. Metadata removal is useful preparation, but it does not control a recipient’s later use of the photo or video.
